The Main Event

Thank you to all the generous sponsors, auction donors, and hardworking committee members who helped make this evening such a remarkable success.
Together, we were able to raise over $88,000 for Operation Classroom Redesign, enabling the school to transform even more classrooms in Memorial Hall into spaces of creativity and collaboration that will truly be a gift to our school community.
Stay tuned for information on The Main Event 2017 coming in November 2017.

About Operation Classroom Redesign
Spaces teach. They communicate values; they inspire or inhibit creativity; they invite or they repel learning. Classrooms are where great conversations can take place, where truth, beauty, and goodness can be pursued, and where problems can be solved creatively and collaboratively. That is why we are redesigning our classrooms from top to bottom.

Memorial Hall will now be devoted entirely to the humanities. The concept we have chosen is “conversation.” We want this building to be a place where students feel welcomed into a conversation with their teachers, their peers, and with the authors of the great books they will study. The hallway will function as a timeline, with each room being named after and inspired by famous historical and literary figures, arranged chronologically. From the Old Testament heroes to the Inklings, Memorial will connect students to the teachers of their teachers. The rooms will feature a more traditional aesthetic, with comfortable seating and tables that can be rearranged easily for a variety of conversation formats.

Operation Classroom Redesign was welcomed with unprecedented success, and we were able to begin the 2016-17 school year with four classrooms in Memorial Hall renovated and two being completed this school year. With eight classrooms remaining to be transformed, it is vital for us to strive for completion.
