The Stony Brook School is seeking a Part Time, Evening Registered Nurse to be a part of the School’s Health and Wellness Center.  This is a 10-month position to begin November 2018.
Part Time Evening Registered Nurse
The Stony Brook School is seeking a Part Time, Evening Registered Nurse to be a part of the School’s Health and Wellness Center.  This is a 10-month position to begin November 2018.

Requirements:
  • Licensed RN
  • BLS required
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the healthcare field *Experience in the school setting is strongly recommended*
  • Personal calling to serve in a Christian school setting that places primary importance on the spiritual, intellectual, psychological and social development of teenagers
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and communicating effectively with patients and their families, colleagues, supervisors, and health care providers
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible to changes in scheduling that may occur throughout the academic year.
  • Technology proficiency

Responsibilities:
  1. Providing compassion and quality care for the students of a private boarding school environment. Developing plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes, and the evaluation of care
  2. Evaluate, assess and treat students with acute needs, illnesses and injuries, ensuring that all policies and procedures are maintained.
  3. Manage the administration of all student medications prescribed by a physician.
  4. Manage all student health records using Magnus Health and maintain hard copies of case notes in accordance with New York State regulations.
  5. Ensure students receive excellent primary and follow-up health care, including evaluation, treatment, charting, and education for any acute or chronic health conditions.
  6. Serving as consultants with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors
  7. Providing health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings
  8. Monitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
  9. Overseeing infection control measures
  10. Actively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school
  11. Making decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks, as directed by state laws and professional practice guidance
  12. Serve as a liaison between school personnel, student, family, and community health care providers to ensure continuity of care.
