SBS Celebrates the Class of 2012

The Stony Brook School will hold its ninetieth Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 am.  The program will consist of speeches by the Salutatorian, Colleen Higgins, and Valedictorian, Hyunsoo “Paul” Chung, and the presentation of diplomas to 57 graduates.  The Class of 2012 is characteristic of a typical Stony Brook School class representing ten states within the USA as well as these countries: Bahamas, China, Korea, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.  The commencement address will be given by Dr. D. Michael Lindsay, President of Gordon College, award-winning sociologist and educator, Pulitzer-nominee and author of publications on religion, public life, and American evangelicalism.  The Baccalaureate sermon will be given by Rev. Jacob A. Smith, senior clergyman at Calvary/St. George’s Episcopal Church, NYC on Friday, May 25 at 4:00 pm. 

About Our Valedictorian

The Stony Brook School Class of 2012 Valedictorian:
Hyunsoo "Paul" Chung of Warren, NJ

Valedictorian Hyunsoo “Paul” Chung attended The Stony Brook School since 7th grade. Chung was a Dorm Prefect, a member of the Cum Laude Society, Class Council, Honor Council, Dorm Council, Mentor Program, and Theatrical Arts Society.  He competed on the Varsity Soccer and Wrestling teams.  In the fall Paul will attend the University of Pennsylvania and major in PPE (philosophy, politics, and economics).

Salutatorian Colleen Higgins entered SBS in 7th grade.  She was a member of the Cum Laude Society, Senior Class Council, “Communitivities” Council, and Mentor Program.  She competed on the Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field teams.  In the fall Colleen will attend Cornell University to study Engineering.
