Welcoming Children for 55 Years
The Stony Brook School first began serving our community with summer programs in the summer of 1959.
In 2014, we’re celebrating our 55th summer of learning, action, and fun.
The Stony Brook School, founded in 1922, is an independent, coeducational college preparatory, boarding and day school for grades 7-12. The School’s motto, Character Before Career, is the foundation of a Stony Brook education.
Summer Programs, founded in 1959, uphold the mission and motto of the school, providing an environment that fosters character development and personal growth in young people. Summer Programs are “counselor-centered” to enhance relational experiences. Counselors are assigned small groups, allowing for close, caring relationships to develop. Daily activities incorporate five areas of personal growth: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual. Our staff provides enthusiastic, nurturing, and challenging supervision of all children. The staff shares a commitment to the Christian faith and is expected to exemplify moral and Christian living in motive, thought, action, and responsibility to others, as modeled by Jesus Christ. While The Stony Brook School and its Summer Programs are Christian in their heritage and scope, they welcome and seek to serve individuals of all faiths and backgrounds. Exposure to Christian norms and beliefs will inevitably be a part of the Stony Brook experience. For more information about the school and our admissions policies, please feel free to call the Admissions Office at (631) 751- 1800 ext. 1, email them, or fill out an inquiry form.
The directors, counselors, and support staff all welcome you to another exciting year of learning and fun. Captain George Linzee returns as the well known director of specialty and residential programs and Jeremy Donovan returns as director of the sports programs. Karen Andrews is our office manager, ready to assist you with the registration process. Please to contact them if you have any questions.
Due to the popularity of our programs and the earlier release of our brochure, parents are encouraged to attend the March 15 Open House and register by the end of April, since several sessions may fill up by then.
We hope to see you at the Campus Open House March 15, 1-5 pm or the Harbor Open House June 7, 1-5 pm.
