“Being
a boarder at Stony Brook has been incredible, as well as stressful…
but overall, it has been a true cultural experience. At first,
I was eager to leave home. I couldn't wait to be an independent
woman. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm quickly changed during
my first week at Stony Brook. Adapting to a new environment
and new rules wasn't simple; however individuals such as my
dorm parents, teachers, and my roommate made the situation
more comfortable. The
most exciting part about being a boarder is being in the dorm
itself. A building full of 32 girls might seem like chaos,
but it is actually a lot of fun. Whether students are studying
in their room, hanging out in the lounge, or watching Disney
movies in the basement, they can always find someone who will
help make life at 'The Brook' more enjoyable.”
