November/December
2007
FOR
SENIORS:
How are you doing with your applications? The
initial rush of Early Decision and Early Action
deadlines has passed and we are now coming into
the second half of this semester. Before you
know it, January 1 will be here! If you
recall from our Application Checklist, the best
time to have all of your applications completed
is by November 27. Please read over the
reminders listed below and see me right away
if I can help with any of them.
1
- College List: At this point your
college list should be complete. If you are
still looking for schools to consider, please
see me as soon as possible. You can also use
search websites such as www.review.com
and www.collegeboard.com
The Naviance website also has a search tool.
2
– Deadlines: It is critically important
that you know all of your schools’ deadlines.
REMEMBER – Some schools have priority deadlines
for scholarship opportunities. Please be aware
of these as well.
3
– Letters of Recommendation: Please
remember to give your teachers three things
when you ask them for recommendations
1) At least two weeks notice before deadline,
2) Stamped, addressed envelopes and
3) A copy of your resume, if you have one.
4
– Finals Count! I know it is obvious,
but please do your best for the finals. The
first semester grades are mailed to the colleges
and they look at them carefully. This in the
main reason I want your applications completed
by November 27. This will free you up to focus
on the exams.
5
– My Schedule: Please plan
ahead and take care of all of your application
details by December 15. I will be in the office
until December 21 and will return to the office
January 3.
One
last thing – please remember that I need
to see the applications before they are mailed.
Drop them off at my office and then pick them
up the next day from Mrs. Abrahamsen.
I
am praying for all of you. Mrs. Griffin

plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3
