IMPRESSIVE SEASON
FOR THE STONY BROOK SCHOOL'S WRESTLING TEAM

The Stony Brook School's wrestling team completed the 2007-08 season this past weekend at the Section XI Div. II Suffolk County Wrestling Championships with 6 out of 11 entries placing.

Stony Brook had some impressive performances at the tournament. Senior captain, Thomas Payne, finished 2nd in the county in his fourth year on the varsity team. Junior Edward Dawson wrestled to a 3rd place finish.

Alex von Strandtmann (Port Jeff Sta.) went 2-2 in the tourney and brought home a 4th place finish in a tough weight class. Alex Haba finished 3rd after he pinned teammate Eric Cho who placed 4th in the consolations. In a different weight class, Alex Galagarza (Brooklyn) also finished 4th. This concludes an excellent wrestling season.

The program continues to grow and improve New York state's toughest county. The squad enjoyed tournament trips to Mt. Greylock, MA; Delaware County, PA.; and Croton on the Hudson, NY this past season. In addition, The Stony Brook School hosted their annual Thomas Brohard dual meet tourney in January which was a huge success.

Coach Maningo looks forward to a full compliment of wrestlers attending camp at the University of N. Carolina this summer and once again competing with a full lineup next season .
