The Bears competitive season concluded Friday, June 12 with Burke's participation in the NYSPHSAA Track & Field Championships held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. She kept up with the competition with her throw of 96'10" earning her 12th place in the state.

The Lady Bears had a record breaking season. They constantly improved throughout the season to finish by winning five out of eight league dual meets and all but two competing team members achieved personal records during the season. The Lady Bears pulled together with great teamwork to earn points and defeat their opponents. It was at these meets when the highest number of girls achieved personal records, a great reward for their hard work at practice and in competition.

This impressive season included 14 Lady Bears who achieved Section XI qualifying performances. The 4x100m relay team, a combination of Stiklickas, junior & team captain Rebekah Sides (Stony Brook), sophomore Ayana Aaron (Nesconset), junior DeJanee Dinkins (Bronx), and senior Olivia Roach (Brooklyn), consistently ran at this outstanding performance level. The 4x400m relay team, a combination of eighth grader Ali Damianos (St. James), sophomore Sarah Han (Korea), senior & team captain Karina Scavo (Mount Sinai), eighth grader Blakeley Schiffman (Ronkonoma), and Wentling also raced at this top speed several times during the season. The 4x800m relay team of Fernandez, Wentling, eighth grader Gianna Scavo (Mount Sinai), and Schiffman ran to finish at an impressive pace at the division championships. The Section XI qualifying performance list continues with the following athletes: Burke (Shot Put & Discus), Damianos (Long Jump), Dinkins (100m), Fernandez (1500m, 3000m), Han (100m Hurdles), K. Scavo (Long jump), Schiffman (800m), sophomore Emily Shultz (Pa.) (High Jump), Sides (200m), Stiklickas (Triple Jump), and Wentling (100m hurdles & 400m hurdles).

Ten athletes from SBS continued their competitive season in the Division III Championships held on May 26 & 28 at Comsewogue High School. Earning medals for placing fourth in their competitions were Wentling (100m Hurdles), Burke (Discus throw and Shot Put), and Fernandez (3000m run). Other outstanding performances were given by Wentling (7th place - 400m Hurdles), Fernandez (7th place - 1500m), G. Scavo (800m), Schiffman (800m), Sides (200m), Stiklickas (400m), Roach (Shot Put), and Shultz (High Jump). The 4x100m relay team (Stiklickas, Sides, Aaron, and Roach) and the 4x800m relay team (Fernandez, Wentling, G. Scavo, and Schiffman) also had stellar performances.

The season concluded with All-League medals awarded to Burke, Fernandez, Roach, G. Scavo, K. Scavo, Schiffman, and Wentling. Burke's discus throw and Fernandez' 1500m and 3000m runs also earned them trophies for All-County honors. Major SBS athletic awards were given to several of the Lady Bears as well. The Laura J. Shybunko Girls' Track Trophy went to Wentling for Excellence in Performance and Sides for Excellence in Contribution. Awarded with the coveted "Bear Blanket" for consistent contribution of quality performances in athletic competition were senior Sarah Hickey (Stony Brook) and K. Scavo. Many more Lady Bears received other SBS awards for excellence in their voluntary and academic pursuits. See collage of participants.
