Research Scholar and Lecturer in Middle Eastern New Testament Studies, Dr. Kenneth E. Bailey, spoke at The Stony Brook School in Hegeman Chapel, 1 Chapman Parkway, Stony Brook on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Bailey is a Presbyterian author and lecturer in Middle Eastern New Testament Studies in Wilmington, PA. He has written over fifty articles in English and Arabic, which have been translated into more than twenty languages. In addition to his writings, Dr. Bailey has authored two professionally produced feature length films and has professionally recorded over 100 video lectures. Dr. Bailey is a member of Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas and is listed in Who's Who in Biblical Studies and Archeology.
Dr. Bailey has completed degrees in Arabic Language and Literature, Systematic Theology, and a doctorate in New Testament, specializing in its cultural background and literary forms. After being ordained by the Presbyterian Church, he spent forty years teaching in seminaries and institutes in the United States, Egypt, Lebanon, Jerusalem, and Cyprus. During this time, Dr. Bailey was installed as a Canon of the Cathedral with the Episcopal Diocese of Cyprus. In 1997 he was installed as Canon Theologian of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. At the Archbishop of Canterbury's request, Dr. Bailey was the Bible teacher for the triennial meeting of the Archbishops of the Worldwide Anglican Communion, in London, England, March 1995.
